Battle of Yalu River
The Battle of Yalu River began on April 30th,1904 and ended on May 1st,1904.Before the Japanese took charge, they had time to see the Russian weapons were state of the art. The Japanese Army of 30,000 were led by General Kuroki. The Russians were led by General Zasulich, there were a total of 20,000 Russian men. The Japanese weapons were able to fire a farther distance compared to the Russian artillery. The Japanese were positioned in a long line which allowed them to cover a larger distance. When the Japanese attacked, the Russian forces were overwhelmed and forced to retreat. In the end, 1,300 Russians were killed with 600 captured. There were 160 Japanese dead with 820 wounded. The results of this showed that an Asian power could defeat a European one which badly damaged the Russians prestige.
