Background information
The Russo-Japanese War started on February 8,1904, and ended on September 5, 1905. This war happened to be between Japan and Russia over control of Korea. The battles mostly took place in Manchuria and the seas around Korea, Japan, and the Yellow Sea. Russia and Japan had negotiations in 1901 over their interest in Korea, but did little over the conflict. Japan and Great Britain had an alliance where it was stated that if a 3rd party entered the war against Japan, Great Britain would assist Japan in its war efforts. Russia did not anticipate that Japan would enter a war against them. Russia thought that they had the most powerful army but Japan knew that they could not win a war that required lots of supplies, so they kept the war short and local.
